[Hint #13] When preparing a surface for painting start with 80 grit paper and finish with 180 grit. Wash the surface with sugar soap then wash over with clean water. Wait for surface to dry then commence with undercoat.

[Hint #12]When you are finished using brushes take care to wash and store them properly. Wash them in water or mineral turpentine depending on wether finish is oil or water based. Then after drying coat with soap or conditioner and mould them to their original shape. When you want to use the brushes again wash them out with water and you will find they have kept their shape as if new.
